Lush and colorful gardens look absolutely charismatic, and to enhance their beauty, one can add in several ornamental details. A good idea is to decorate the garden using only natural embellishments. Many down home pieces and easygoing ideas can be used to beautify a garden. Furthermore, most of these all-natural decorations are eco-friendly and do not burn a hole in your pocket. In fact, they can be easily made at home. Some creative tips and tricks are provided below.
Spick-and-span. The garden area should look orderly and neat. So, pull out unwanted grass or wild flowers that are adding to the clutter. De-weed the garden from time to time with organic preparations or by pulling out the weeds manually. Pick out flowers that are fading, and prune away discolored or dried plants. Collect litter in wicker baskets; place several of them in your garden area.
Crude additions. Leave foliage on the garden bed. It looks earthy and also feeds plants. Water the garden daily; it imparts the area of a coarse look. A few blankets of moss can give the area a boorish appeal. Leave out the stump of a tree you have cut down. Allow ferns and creepers to climb on posts and trees. Plant blooms in rough-looking cans, tins and glass bottles.
Selection of colors. Although you love colorful blooms, incorporate plants with gray and green leaves also. Green shrubbery and gray foliage help to bring out the beauty of blooms in vivid colors. Also, gray and silver-colored leaves look bright during the day time and turn resplendent in moonlight. Some well-known names in this category are silver lace, lychnis, dusty miller aretemisia.
Ornamentation. Rounded pebbles and jagged stones will give your lawn a raw appeal. Sprinkle crushed gravel and marble on flower beds. Scatter pine cones, shells and driftwood on the turf. Chips and bits of china add an element of messiness. Place naturally occurring rocks, like limestone and quartz, around the space. Make garden pathways and walkways out of stone, brick or gravel.
Do away with pests. Use natural remedies for rodents and pests. Keep rats away with an organic preparation of urine and rotten eggs or a string of peppers. Fill up a container with a mixture of beer and water in equal quantities to catch slugs. Soak chopped garlic in hot water for a day and use this concoction to drive away fungus and mildew.
Showy add-ons. Prop up a scarecrow made from hay. Create castles or structures made from earth or sand. Dig up a hollow pit, and turn it into a pond or small pool. You can drift leaves, float candles or breed fishes in here. Furniture or alcoves made from mud, wood or bamboo look rustic. Plunk mushroom stools or flat benches in your lawn.
From earthly pebbles to damp dreams, there are many techniques one can use to add unrefined beauty to a garden area. A layout that is uncultured and natural will give your garden a charming, fresh and homely ambiance.
