It’s Black History Month! And to celebrate, each week, FCG will highlight a black woman who rocks and who is doing amazing thing. This week, it’s all about JZhanel JZ Cole, actor, model, host and entrepreneur.
For Colored Gurls: Can you tell us about what you do?
J’Zhanel JZ Cole: I am a working actor/model/host hailing from Los Angeles, California. I am also the Founder/CEO of QueenDome Entertainment (QDE), a production company that produces various productions within the media and entertainment field such as S.H.E. SPITS- The Play: 5MC’s, 3 Nights, 1 Mic.
FCG: How did you get started in this particular area?
J’Zhanel: I started off by working in the music industry, working in artist development and managment for various music production companies. While working on a project, I was discovered by a producer who encouraged me to audition for a role for a movie that he was working on.
After auditioning for the role, I was informed that I was cast, and well, the rest is “herstory!”
Some of my credits working with the following network and production companies include: BET Network (The Monique Show, Tiny & Toya Season 2 and Let’s Stay Together); CW Network (The Vampire Diaries), Lifetime Television (Drop Dead Diva), QueenDome Entertainment (S.H.E. Spits); Dream Catcher Productions (Black Man-o-Logues, I, II & Fading Flowers); ABC Family (Christmas Cupid); 20th Century Fox (Big Momma’s House 3); Tyler Perry Studios (Meet the Browns and For Colored Girls); and VH1′s Single Ladies.
FCG: What is one thing you would say contributed to your achievements?
J’Zhanel: My faith in God and the belief in myself that anything was possible and that I could do anything that I absolutely dreamed or desired.
FCG: Who and what motivates you to keep moving ahead?
J’Zhanel: What motivates me to keep moving ahead is my passion to succeed and provide the sky in which others can soar is, in addition to my son, Jalen Marcus Judah, who has been the driving force behind my grind.
FCG: What tips do you have for women who are on their journeys to success?
J’Zhanel: I would encourage every woman to step out on faith and to not be afraid to take risks. In addition to not being afraid to fail because it is within our failures that we learn our greatest lessons!
In addition, do not listen to people that say you cannot succeed based on your background, education, if you are a mother, single parent or a woman for that matter; because I am living proof that dreams do come true!

Congrats JZ Cole! Keep ROCKIN IT!!
JZhanel inspires me daily that dreams can come true no matter what your situation in life. Being an entreprenuer my self, I am constantly being pressured by negativity, but refuse to let that stop me from my dreams. Anytime I get discouraged I look at JZ an remind myself that I am capable and permitted to succeed. I am a child of God. I am royalty.
I’ve seen JZhanel’s work, and Iove her brilliant capacity to risk expression and be a voice for so many women just by sharing her gifts. She’s the hotness, and I’m absolutely delighted to see her celebrated on your site, Jamie! Wonderful!!
