Flyy Fridays: "Freak" Chic Tips

December 18, 2009
By Jamie Fleming

Hello lovelies!

This Flyy Friday is more wisdom from Miss Fabulosity herself (can ya’ll tell I love her? Lol).

Anyway, she (Kimora) says, “each woman should try to find a quality that makes her unique and project it in life, work, style, love, relationships and everything else she does.” Essentialy, let your difference be your trademark; and I agree- I embrace my gap (shout out to my bff, OD! lol), my natural, kinky, coily hair, my height/weight, my quirkiness, etc., and I believe you should too!

See? OD and I love our gaps! He says: "We got them beautiful gaps." Lol

Here are some things Kimora says to keep in mind:

Don’t try to change yourself to fit a stifling status quo. Change your circumstances, so you find other groups who appreciate you…

Never compare yourself with others (which, admittedly, I still struggle with). Don’t let yourself look at other women and say, “I wish I was like her…” or “I wish I had her hair/nose/boobs…” Don’t wish That puts your head in the future-clouds. You are, and you’re here in the present- and you’re fabulous.

Act like you are the product and its promoter. You have to have integrity about who you are and how you are. Embrace the things that make you most defiantly you and don’t let people water you down. Being wishy washy means you get walked over. Know when to block out twisted “advice” that tries to steer you the wrong way.

When in doubt, move further away from the center. Exaggerate your difference(s) and try to stand out more! Blending in is so boring! If you’re tall, put on heels. If you have eight million freckles, show them off instead of covering them up with foundation. If you have a big curly afro- I say, yeah!

So, what’s that one (or more) ”freaky”/quirky thing about you that you love?
