After writing product reviews when she was 16-years-old for The New Girls Time, Tina Wells launched her business, then called The Buzz, in 1996. The Buzz was a teen-run consultancy group providing companies with info on what teens want for their marketing. Now known as Buzz Marketing Group, her company is a youth marketing agency that focuses on youth needs, desires and trends.

Wells received a B.A. in Communication Arts with honors from Hood College in 2002 and is now in a post-baccalaureate program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business for marketing management.

Through unique marketing methods, research initiatives and youth advertising, Buzz Marketing has gained clients in several industries including the fashion, entertainment and business sectors. Some of her clients have been Procter + Gamble, SonyBMG and Time Inc.

Wells has accomplished much through Buzz Marketing Group:

  • She completed her first teen research project for Fortune 500 company, Verizon Wireless.
  • She was selected as one of Essence Magazin’s prestigious 40 under 40List.
  • She was featured in an Oprah Magazine cover story highlighting five female entrepreneurs.
  • She was chosen by AOL Black Voices as one of America’s Top Black Female Entrepreneurs.
