Job Title: Owner of the Ladd Agency [www.laddagency.net]

Job Description: Event Marketing Staffing Agency

Why did you decide to pursue this field? I’ve been in event marketing for over six years and was making lots of money for other people. So when I got laid off at another Event Marketing agency, I decided to start my own business.

What do you love most about your job?  The people that I work with. I have a large database of staff throughout the U.S. I have Tradeshow Models, Actors, Emcees, Makeup Artists, Field Managers, Video Production teams and Print Models.

What is the most stressful aspect of your job? It’s not stressful because I truly love what I do. I get overwhelmed when I have multiple projects in front of me, but believe me, it will get done by the end of the day.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job? Consistent work for my staff and knowing that the clients are pleased with the talent I hired for their project or event.

What is the craziest thing that’s happened at work? Well, I pray before I start my day, so I limit any type of nonsense before it starts.

Describe a typical day at work for you. Reviewing new resumes and headshots, adding their information into my database. All talent are added in the state where they reside. I send out Independent Contractor paperwork plus 1099′s by email to all new talent. Conduct phone interviews with people in different cities. I have to be mindful of the time zones, especially calling the West Coast. In between that, I make calls to clients and potential clients. I submit new business proposals along with my pricing sheets. On special projects, I will need to submit a staffing quote if I’m needed to staff a large Tradeshow event or sporting event.

What advice or tips would you give someone who wants to do what you do? You must love being a talker and negotiator. If you have an eye for talent and fashion, put in the work, do some research, and always be prayerful. God will give you direction.

Finish this sentence: This career is for you if ____ You are willing to work long hours before it even starts to be profitable. Dream Big!! Work Harder!!
