Job Title: Founder of Carol’s Daughter, a beauty products line [www.carolsdaughter.com]
About: Price grew up with her grandmother making recipes for everything from food to soaps to hair pomades. This led her to create her own products in the kitchen as well.
She began producing lotions and creams based on natural products in 1990 and established Carol’s Daughter in 1993 with the support of friends and family. Price included mail-order, a website and walk-in customers by 1999, and her business relocated from her brownstone to a formal store.
With over 300 sweet-smelling products for the face, body, hair and home, Price earned more than $2.25 million in sales in 2002. Her celebrity patrons include Jada Pinkett Smith, Oprah and Halle Berry. In 2004, along with Hillary Beard, she wrote her memoir, Success Never Smelled So Sweet: How I Followed My Nose and Found My Passion.
Price also believes in giving back. She donates time, money and services to nonprofits like Arthur Ashe Foundation, Hale House and the September 11th Fund.
Her products are circulated across the nation. You can find more info on her website.
