According to the website, Reality Check, the Department of Health and Human Services released a proposal in July that will attempt to redefine several types of contraception as abortion- 40% of the types used by us!
Basically, the federal government has followed the definition of pregnancy from the American Medical Association and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists: pregnancy begans at implanation.
However, with this proposal, the HHS is rejecting medical experts and choosing instead to accept a definition of pregnancy based on polling data. So now, it claims that pregnancy starts at a biologically unknown moment (since there’s no test to tell if a woman’s egg has been fertilized). In a nutshell, “under these new standards, there would be no way for a woman to prove she’s not pregnant.” Therefore, any woman could be refused contraception under HHS’ “new science.”
